I started in upstate New York outfitting my Tanzer
7.5 pocket cruiser for my cruising adventure to southern shores in the
spring. In September I went down the Hudson
River to New York Harbor, and then to Atlantic Highlands Municipal
Marina in New Jersey.
I sailed offshore along the New Jersey coast and then had to go inside at
Barnegat Inlet to wait out hurricane Gustav at Beach Haven Yacht Club
Marina. I motored to Absecon Inlet before heading offshore again for Cape
May Harbor.
Then I went through the Cape May Canal and sailed up Delaware Bay, where
I saw "The Pride of Baltimore II" on the same tack before going
through the Delaware & Chesapeake Canal and exploring Chesapeake Bay for
a while before going down the ICW.
I rented a private slip near Oriental in North Carolina for the month of
October and cruised the Neuse River, Pamlico Sound and the Outer Banks.
You'll find a write up of me on the Town Dock website when I visited
Oriental for supplies. I also got to dodge around hurricane K as it kept
crossing and re-crossing the area.
In November I went to Beaufort/Morehead City, NC and then started my run
down the ICW through coastal North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia
stopping at Georgetown, Myrtle Beach, Charleston, Beaufort (SC), Brunswick,
and finally St. Augustine in Florida the first week of December.
I'll spend the Winter cruising Florida, the Caribbean and the Gulf Coast
before sailing along the ICW to Texas in the Spring. I'll be there for
a while before transporting my boat to The Sea
of Cortez where I'll be home-ported at San
Felipe, Baja California Norte,
Mexico where I have my land at El
Dorado Ranch Estates
